And FINALLY the Winner is.....

Tammy of Queen Sized Funny Bone

Congratulations Tammy!  Email me your address, and I will get it off to you this week!

Thank you all for your patience while I was getting over the flu.  Two days ago, I could not have counted to 71, my brain was feeling so fried from the fever!

Happy Blogoversary to me!

Still not feeling 100%, but getting there slowly.  I honestly can't remember that last time I felt this bad for so long.  I have not headed to the doctor, as none of my symptoms are serious.  My temperature did go back up over 100 today, so if that does not resolve itself, I will head to the ER or Urgent Care (they are hard to find in this area, FL had some great ones!), as I have not yet found a doctor.

I had "visions" before I got sick of getting sick, just so I could have some down time, and not feel guilty.  Some time to lay in bed and read a book.... NOT.  I felt so crappy I could not even focus for a couple days.  Then there is the feeling that I am INCONVENIENCING my child.  She did not want to accept that for a night or two, soup or sandwiches or cereal might be dinner.  I did not feel like eating, let alone cooking.  Mom does her best, but Tara is very set in her ways when it comes to meals.  If she is not in the mood for something, she just does not want it.  I was disappointed that she was not more flexible.  I felt suspect every time she asked to take my temperature... thinking that she figured once my temperature was normal, that I would be MIRACOUSLY better.

Don't forget my Blogoversay Giveaway, ends at Midnight PST.  I will get the drawing done and winner announced as quickly as possible.  Hopefully tomorrow things will look up!
Have a fabulous day!

I'm going to to changes things up a bit, and post some pictures of "critters" from Busch Gardens in Tampa.  Tara and I only visited there twice while we lived in Orlando, but we enjoyed it very much.

Halloween in PA!

As Much as I LOVE fall, and everything autumn, I'm not that crazy about Halloween itself.  I never was really into dressing up, and I am not all that creative when it comes to trying to figure out unique costumes.

I was not sad in the least last year when I took Tara and three of her friends to a carnival on Halloween night instead of trick or treating.  There were also a few Halloweens that being a single mom presented the problem of staying home handing out candy while Tara went with friends, or going along and not giving out candy.

When I was a kid - back in the dark ages, every one our street new one another, and they actually tried to GUESS who was behind the mask.  Now most kids don't even wear a mask, and candy is handed out freely for just a knock on the door!

All day yesterday, we were not sure if we would get the chance to go trick or treating, as it was threatening rain all day.  Tara had not thought of that, as in Florida I don't think in all the years, we ever had bad weather for trick or treating.  Tara also decided to not really wear a costume, just a funny hat, which wound up being just a funny head band.

We were to go trick or treating with "the boys".  Kier and Gavin, were both dressing up as Spiderman.  Different costumes though.  Spiderman was VERY popular in our parts this year, I bet we saw 6 or 7 others. Gavin was not in a good mood, in fact at one point I did not think he would go.  Jerry (my niece's husband) and I headed out, with a still reluctant Gavin.  I never did get a picture of Gavin, I knew better than to ask!

I had hoped for some fun pictures, but one grumpy Spiderman, and RAIN hindered my photographic experience.  Much of the time my camera was safely tucked away in a plastic trick or treat bag.... we didn't have an umbrella!

One house we stopped at had gathered together with other neighbors in their garage, and were having a party, while they handed out candy.  Beer, wine, food etc.  I wanted to pull up a chair and join in the fun.  They looked like fun folks.  This is one of their pumpkins.

In the end, I was glad we had not put too much more effort into a costume, or even painted her face like I had thought.  We hit quite a few homes, but everyone was getting wet and tired, and the kids all decided they had had enough.  By the time we walked back to their house we were soaked.

Tara had a nice bag of candy, not as much as some years (we weighed it when we got home after I read that my cousin had weighed her daughter's candy!), but three pounds is plenty. It's all good stuff too. Nothing really that neither one of us like!
Have a fabulous day!

Quotable Sunday - Time

 Mothers Day Gift Ideas

Quotable Sunday is hosted by Toni at a Daily Dose of Toni.  Head on over to visit Toni, other participants and join in the fun!

I thought I would share some quotes about time today, since many of us switched from day light savings time back to standard time last night.  I'm not really sure if I "got" my extra hour of sleep or not, my sleep pattern is always wonky.  I think the point of so many of the quotes that I am sharing today is that we need to make the most of every moment of the day!

Time is the coin of your life.  It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.
Carl Sandburg

Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.

Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.

Time is free, but it's pricesless.  You can't own it, but you can use it.
You can't keep it, but you can spend it.
Once you've lost it you can never get it back.
